Is Losing Weight Easy?

Losing weight is easy they say. All we have to do is to watch what we eat and exercise more. We need to use more calories than we put in. All this is true, of course, but putting into practice what we know is not as easy as it sounds.


To be successful, we need to change what we do daily. It has been said that diets do not work because after we come off the diet we put the weight back on. Dieting makes you fat is the thinking. What we need to do is to change our lifestyle and look to lose weight in the long term. That way if we are lucky the weight will stay off.

Do you join a group that will give you support and comfort in your efforts? I say comfort because there are times when you will not feel like the exercise or if you are like me and now and again fall for the bar of chocolate, you need to know that you are not alone and all is not lost.

I never tell my family or friends that I am on a diet. They love to remind you of all your past failures and point out that the sweet you just popped in your mouth will not help- but we know that and do not need to be reminded at every turn. So I just do not tell them. You can, of course, go public and let everyone know what you are doing that will give you the incentive to succeed.

I look at photo of twenty years ago and drool at how good I looked and wondered what happened. I tell myself that age plays a part in my weight gain, and in some cases age does have something to do with it. Pictures do help to keep you on track, so pin them up in the bathroom and kitchen - on the fridge.

Watch what you buy. Read everything, look at the calories of the items you are about to put on your plate. Wherever possible, eat fresh foods that include fruits and vegetables.

Above all, do some exercise. Check with your doctor before you begin. I like gardening and walking. Over time, the weight is coming off slowly. Zips that could not have gone up a year ago are now going up.

Saying all that, there are times when we all need help from experts as it is not easy to lose weight. In that case, we need to choose which weight loss product we buy and use very carefully. Many have found this route to losing weight very satisfactory in the past, and no doubt, will do in the future.
